TIME’s 2017 Person of the Year selection of “The Silence Breakers”—the courageous women and men who spoke up about sexual harassment and assault—started a conversation that continues weeks later. The choice began trending on social media immediately after editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal announced it on NBC’s Today on Dec. 6, and more people visited TIME.com that day than on Election Day in 2016.
