BRITISH off-road brand Ineos has revealed the first model from its ‘bespoke’ division, Arcane. The Grenadier Detour is a limited-run, hand-finished edition of the rugged 4x4 SUV, and only 200 examples will be made. Buyers will be offered four new paint colours – Magma Red, Whiteout Blue, Squall Green (right) and Storm Force Silver – that will be polished by hand for a finer finish. Alternatively, Detours can be produced in bespoke one-off colours. The Detour gets a new 18-inch alloy wheel design and grille, plus contrast-colour elements such as the front and rear skid plates. YOU’VE been reading about the brilliance of the F-Type for more than a decade, so you know it’s as good to drive as it is to look at. In four-cylinder form, there’s almost 300bhp on tap, but Jaguar also offered V6 and V8 editions, both supercharged, if you want as much as 567bhp to play with. RED Bull Racing has finally unveiled its long-awaited track-day hypercar, the RB17. The new creation has been designed under the watchful eye of the Formula One team’s outgoing technical director Adrian Newey, who was also heavily involved in the Aston Martin Valkyrie. But unlike that car, the RB17 hasn’t been designed with road use in mind. It’s an out-and-out track weapon, complete with a V10 engine that revs to a screaming 15,000rpm and sophisticated active aerodynamics. The 4.5-litre motor serves as a semi-stressed part of the two-seater’s structure, and is aided by a 197bhp electric motor to produce more than 1,184bhp. DURING the eighties and nineties, a raft of companies sprang up across Europe to make a new breed of microcar, now called light quadricycles and officially recognised by EU legislators. IF you’re going to team up with anyone to create a driver’s car, BMW is a good option, and sure enough the ace in the Supra’s pack is its dynamic ability. SO what did the Brit bit of the automotive world learn during the first six months of 2024? Plenty. Focus ST power for second-gen Nomad BRITISH sports car maker Ariel has unveiled a second generation of its off-road-focused Nomad (above). AS you can see from our charts (left), there’s not much between these two when it comes to overall running costs. One area where the BMW pulls ahead is in terms of finance, and if you stick with the basic car and don’t tick any options boxes, then you can save a decent chunk over the Audi.
