This award-winning plunge pool design was inspired by a Balinese resort, but with a contemporary twist that’s suited to modern Australian acreage living. Designed by Jim Vansleve of Norfolk Pools, the freeform pool is positioned to nestle around an old cottage that was then renovated to suit the pool. The old brick house was built into the side of the hill and the pool was designed to take full advantage of the block’s slope, connecting upstairs living to the downstairs entrance. A quarius Pools has transformed a narrow, unused area into a great family space with a courtyard lap pool and spa, and made clever use of a limited corner block on the Victorian coast. After being presented with a steep front yard that slopes approximately 6m from the front door down to the front gate, there was a clear solution for the Rogers Pools’ team when designing this pool — a custom designed, out-of-the-ground concrete pool. Sitting approximately 2.5m above ground, the resulting terraced rectangular pool with step out truly suits the slope and maximises the site.
