Insurance costs in the state increased about 25% in the past year, according to the Insurance Information Institute. Rampant litigation and fraud are part of the problem. So is climate change. But a booster restores protection from the most serious consequences of COVID-19 to 80% to 90% in kids as young as 5. Sarah Lerner is painfully familiar with how teachers in Uvalde, Texas, must have felt as a gunman attacked their elementary school and fatally shot 21 people on May 24.
