I always welcome the New Year with resolutions. Coming from a rather crazy year, changes are made a vow and a commitment to keeping them is enacted. Despite the onslaught of technological conveniences, I’m still admittedly notorious for making a list of things I want to accomplish, which I of course check more than twice. Visual mood boards of my goals and targets are also curated, which are specific and measurable so it makes it easier to actually achieve them. This is also the time to wipe the proverbial slate clean. Towards the end of last year, there seemed to be a considerable shift in gender dynamics, with more and more individuals (women in particular) being empowered to talk about their personal experiences with abuse. Aside from just talking about sexual abuse, however, there has also been a wave of brave young women who took to social media to talk about something that is more in the gray: emotional and verbal abuse.
