For a multiseason harvest, grow ‘Kosmic Kale’, a hardy perennial that never flowers or grows bitter. Buy starts in nurseries or check with Log House Plants (loghouseplants.com) for retailers near you.

Site heat-loving vegetables carefully. All need full sun. Put tall growers (pole beans, corn, and tomatoes) on the north side of shorter varieties (such as cucumber, eggplants, melons, peppers, and squash) so they won’t shade them out.
