AN EVENING out to celebrate Women’s Day turned tragic after an alleged drunk e-hailing driver, travelling contraflow on the M41 near uMhlanga after making an illegal U-turn, hit a red VW Polo head-on, leaving one woman fighting for her life and three others seriously injured.
A relative, who declined to be named, said his brother, 45, had picked up his sister-in-law, 46, his wife, 42, and wife’s friend, 45, after they had attended an event at Cuba Lounge, situated at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, on Friday evening.
The man said his brother and sister-in-law, who lived in Morningside, had been on their way to drop off his wife and her friend in Phoenix, in the early hours of Saturday morning, when the accident happened.
