On July 16, the founder and CEO of Amazon became—according to Bloomberg—the world’s richest person in modern history. Thanks to an extra boost in Amazon’s stock price from this year’s Prime Day, he was worth an estimated $150 billion. Bezos currently makes about $231,000 per minute, or about four times what the average U.S. employee makes in a year, and is $55 billion wealthier than the world’s second richest person, Bill Gates—though Gates would have surpassed Bezos had he not given away billions to charity.
