THE son of a Chatsworth man who was robbed of his belongings, shot in the head, and thrown over a bridge, detailed how he discovered his father’s clothes and remains along a river bank nine months after his disappearance.
The trial of three men accused of robbing and killing 75-year-old Dougie Nelson kicked-off in the Scottburgh High Court on Monday.
Adriano Everts, 24, of Cape Town, Gadwin van Peer Chetty, 40, of Malvern, and Previn Gounder, 39, of Chatsworth, were arrested and charged with murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and theft.
According to the indictments, it is alleged that Nelson, a father of five sons, was robbed of his vehicle, cellphone, and bank card, shot in the head, and thrown over the uMzinto River Bridge on December 9, 2020.
