ORDER books for the electric Renault Scenic E-Tech are now open, with prices from £40,995. This means the new car will undercut the Tesla Model Y, which is priced from a whisker below £45k.
Every Scenic gets a single 217bhp electric motor and an 87kWh battery that gives an official range of up to 379 miles – roughly 40 miles further than any Model Y can cover on a charge.
There are three trim levels for the Scenic – Techno, Esprit Alpine and Iconic – and all get 19-inch wheels, LED lights, heated seats and a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, and twin 12-inch screens, plus safety and assistance features such as a reversing camera and active emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
