On this spring trip our destination was Barmouth, a seaside town with an impressive mountain backdrop. After a long journey we had a comfortable night in the ’van and awoke the next morning to weak sunshine. We decided not to venture too far on our first day and caught the bus into town from the campsite. It is only a two-and-a-half-mile walk to the town centre, but we decided to save our energy! The bus deposited us in the centre of town just across the road from the railway station. One of the joys of owning a campervan is the freedom it gives us to be able to attend outdoor gigs and festivals. Our summer of music began at the Open Air Theatre in Scarborough, where Paul Heaton (formerly of the Beautiful South and Housemartins) was performing. The campervan market is crowded and, if you’re a new converter, you need a method to push your way to the front and grab the attention of the ’van-buying public. That’s certainly what Escape Campers has done with the lilac colour of this T6.1 VW. To say it’s eye-catching is something of an understatement.
