Whodunnit? We dunnit. That’s who dunnit. Dun what? The International Agatha Christie Festival, that’s what. It takes place every September and my partner, Lin, and I were lucky enough to attend this year’s (2024) event, a hotbed of (fictional, thankfully) crime which has been taking place in and around the world-famous author’s birth town of Torquay since 1990. A Shropshire couple has completed an epic world tour in their Fiat Ducato campervan, called Trudy. YouTubers, Marianne and Chris Fisher, travelled more than 90,000 miles and visited 29 different countries on their journey. The pair have finally returned to their home in Telford four and a half years after setting off. Marianne, 56, and Chris, 54, also known for their YouTube channel, Tread the Globe, decided to embark on a globetrotting adventure after being faced with a series of personal challenges. Marianne had recently donated a kidney to save her best friend’s life and was in hospital recovering when Chris found the perfect ’van to make their worldwide trip become a reality – a 2005 Fiat Ducato Adria Twin campervan. Bailey has added two new layouts to its first-ever campervan range, the Endeavour, which is now made up of four models. The two new 3,500kg models, both of which are under six metres long, starts with the Endeavour B63, a pure two-berth with a rear kitchen opposite the washroom. Up front, the side sofa facing the sliding door converts into a double bed at night. The Endeavour B65 (pictured), is a four-berth with up to four travel seats. As well as the font lounge and central kitchen/washroom, there is a fixed bed at the rear, which folds up to enhance the storage in this area. Q What’s better than a Ford Transit Auto-Sleeper Duetto? A Thirty Auto-Sleeper Duettos, all gathered in one place. The last time we met up with other Duetto owners was in 2019, when 17 ’vans assembled in Derbyshire. This is the Adria SuperTwin – and it could soon be the Slovenian brand’s new flagship campervan. It’s a concept for now but we’d expect a production version soon. The Adria Twin has been around since the Fiat Ducato first arrived in 2007 and has been facelifted for 2025. It has more recently been joined by the Twin Max, based on the VW Crafter. And now, there’s the SuperTwin to take over the role of flagship. Or there will be, once it gets the green light for production, because this surprise debutant at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf in September was described as a ‘design concept’. There are two new Ford Custom conversions under the Dreamer umbrella but they are very different designs and even built in different factories. While the latest long-wheelbase Cap Land has a shower and toilet and is built in France, the simpler, more conventional City Camp is converted at Westfalia’s plant in Germany (where it also makes the sister-model Club Joker Urban under its own branding). And this isn’t strictly in the Dreamer range but an entirely separate offering under the title ‘City by Dreamer’. It’s the first model to sit under this brand, which has its own dealer network. HI This month I wanted to talk about a subject close to my heart; cats! Now bear with me, this is completely relevant to campervan travel, as I’m more specifically talking about travelling with cats. CAMPERVAN INSURANCE GROWTH There has been a huge increase in younger people taking out campervan insurance policies, according to Sterling Insurance, which said the number of 18 to 34-year-olds who have taken out one of its tourist policies has increased by 277% since this time last year. “The majority of our policies for those touring has been, and probably always will be, older people who like to travel in their motorhomes and explore during retirement or as they wind down their working lives,” said Peter Cook, one of the company’s managers. “But it’s been obvious that more and more young people are looking to travel around the UK and Europe in campers.”…

Speeds has been a regular at the Warners outdoor shows with a colourful array of Ford Transit Custom pop-tops. But more recently it has also moved into the market for larger campervans. On the popular six-metre Boxer, it offers its Ripasso – named after an Italian red wine and described as a limited edition of 20 vehicles. Based on a pre-registered Peugeot panel van, Speeds’ newcomer seems bullishly priced at just a fiver under eighty grand, a price that exceeds that of a number of well-established competitors.
