A pandemic-related travel cruise ban was lifted in late April, and many cruise lines have returned to Australia. But we’re already seeing COVID-19 outbreaks on cruise ships.
The Department of Health says: “Cruise ships carry a higher risk for spreading disease compared to other non-essential activities and transport modes. COVID-19, influenza, and other infectious diseases, such as gastroenteritis, spread easily between people living and socialising in close quarters.”
Cruises aren’t automatically included in all travel insurance policies, so if you’re planning on a cruise holiday, it’s important you have the right cover. Carefully check policies to make sure that, at the least, medical cover for COVID-19 is included (some policies exclude this).
