Beating its chest as one of the adventure games of the year was Donkey Kong Bananza (Switch 2). The big guy’s first 3D adventure in donkey’s years brought with it destructible terrain, sandbox exploration through a huge world and a fun set of moves. But it was topped for game of the year honours by co-op classic Split Fiction (Switch 2, PS5, XSX, PC), which followed two authors sucked into their fantasy and sci-fi worlds.
There was a run of licensed adventure games to dive into.
