While PureOS comes preinstalled on the Librem 13, it might not be to your liking. For example, Steam is a problem to install, as are several other digital distribution services. The built-in Software tool, meanwhile, offers apps and games that won’t run. This might be down to the reliance on open source drivers, but regardless, it can prove to be a bit of a problem.
Our test device proved impervious to any form of serious benchmarking, partially due to PureOS, and partially to the Intel HD 620 GPU. As such, while the hardware itself is powerful enough, it makes sense to opt for an alternative Linux distro. PureOS is based on Debian, which makes this, Ubuntu, and most other members of that Linux family strong replacements.
