Monado is an open source XR runtime delivering immersive experiences such as VR and AR on mobile, PC/desktop and other devices. Currently being developed for GNU/ Linux, it aims to be a complete and conformant implementation of Khronos’s OpenXR API.
Recently, Monado reached another milestone: its new optical handtracking pipeline, codenamed Mercury, is finally ready for use. After a little over a year of development, Mercury estimates hand pose accurately, supports limited hand-over-hand interactions, tracks fast hand movements, and is usable for drawing, typing and UI interaction.
