Originating in Torquay, Victoria in the late 60s, surrounded by the cold waters of the Southern Ocean, it was pretty obvious why Rip Curl was concentrating on the development of wetsuits behind an old bakery in Torquay, Victoria. Ironically, in the same cold town, Alan Green (Greeny, pictured top left) and John Law were developing boardshorts. Setting up in an un-assuming house not far from Rip Curl HQ, with the Quiksilver office in the front room and the cutting and sewing operation out the back.
