June is scorching in Delhi, a dry relentless heat, during which the only sensible thing to do is to stay inside and stitch! But this month we can enjoy frangipani flowers, whose fragrance perfumes the long, sultry nights.
Both my nan and my mum were skilled needlewomen, and I learnt most of what I know from them. Recently, my daughter has been trying her hand at stitching too, so we’ve an embroidery wall in our living room, which has work done by all four of us. Some of the pieces are very old, like a windmill embroidered by my nan more than 50 years ago.
There is hardly any room any more in the house for pictures, especially since my daughter also…
