TESLA has unveiled its V4 Supercharger in the UK, with this latest version of the ultra-rapid charger designed with all electric cars in mind. From launch, every V4 Supercharger site will work with any EV featuring a CCS charging port. The new V4 Superchargers can charge at up to 250kW – the same as the outgoing V3 – allowing for an 80 per cent top-up of a Tesla Model Y in less than half an hour. AT the time of our test, the Fabia was a little long in the tooth when compared with the VW Polo or SEAT Ibiza, but there’s still a lot to like about this model. While the Skoda cost more than the MG when new (£15,160 vs £12,795), that gap has narrowed considerably today. Even when new, the Fabia was a compelling proposition with its torquier, more refined and efficient engine. It feels a lot more agile, too, thanks to its lower kerbweight (by 154kg). IT’S dropped its estate models from the UK model line-up, but Volvo is still focused on practical cars, and has released a teaser shot (right) of a new MPV. Called the EM90, it’s being hailed by the company as its “first ever fully electric premium MPV” and is likely to have a similar-sized battery to the brand’s EX90 large electric SUV. Read its entry in our survey (page 33) and you’ll find owners aren’t overwhelmed by its dynamics, practicality or style, but it’s doing something right, with a top-10 placing in the value category. Fuel and other running costs such as insurance and road tax are rated as middle-of-the-road, with servicing cost in 63rd. However, the overwhelming majority of drivers now opt for PCP finance, and here the Smart doesn’t quite stack up against the Megane.
