A KEY witness in the trial of three men, who allegedly hijacked and kidnapped truck driver Kishore Lakraj and then shot and killed a metro police officer, testified about his role in the crime this week.
In the Durban High Court on Monday, Vulowonuhle Jamjam said he was the man who had transported the three accused – Mlungisi Phakamani Mpanza, 37, Mzomuhle Lawrence Gamede, 34, and Sabelo Mncube, 42, – to hijack the Chester Meats truck carrying more than R730 000 worth of meat on July 20 last year.
During the hijacking, the hijackers failed to drive the truck, which came to a standstill in the middle of the road facing oncoming traffic, along Hans Dettman Road in Queensburgh.
