Feature PW at 90 Years

The second decade of PW’s existence starts in the middle of WWII, 1942. Remarkably, there appears to have been a period in the late 1930s when the magazine was published weekly. In September 1940 it reverted (‘temporarily’) to monthly publication. This was, as explained in that issue, due to “the acute paper shortage. All newspapers are now rationed as to their paper supply, and the ration ·allowed for this periodical would not have made it an economic proposition .as a weekly publication.
