Even if we didn’t know him, we all knew Stevie Smith a little. This is mostly thanks to a segment in Seasons, the now-classic 2008 film from Canadian production company The Collective.
The film followed a group of riders over the course of a year, documenting their lives on bikes during each of the four seasons, and it starred an array of the already-legends of mountain biking, including Thomas Vanderham, Andrew Shandro and Steve Peat.
Then there was Stevie, a 17-year-old boy no one had heard of, from Cassidy, a small town in BC no one had heard of. And, unusually for a guy in a bike movie, a lot of his on-screen time was shared with his mum.
