The taxonomy of mountain biking may seem increasingly complex—DH, DJ, enduro, fat, freeride, singlespeed, XC. But in reality, there are just two sorts of mountain bikers: those who dig and those who don’t.
If you fall into the latter category, I’m sure you have an excuse. Sorry, I mean really good reason. Maybe you believe in trail fairies. Maybe you’re really, really busy with work, family, meeting someone at the pub, kids’ sports, going away or mowing the lawn on the day of your nearby working bee. Maybe you don’t know how to dig, or perhaps no one has introduced you to your local trail crew. That’s cool, but I’d love to change it.
Because trails don’t just happen. Nor does the passage of thousands of wheels leave them unscarred.…
