Android Nougat is exciting for lots of reasons, but usually a new Android OS comes alongside new hardware for us to get our teeth into. The N upgrade was an exception and, while new hardware is indeed coming, Nougat was unveiled with little fanfare at the end of August. But it’s a launch worth celebrating: read more overleaf.
We’ve a couple more weeks to wait for new Google hardware, but the company’s rumoured 4 October event is likely to be well worth the wait, with a new Nexus 7 tablet from Huawei (finally), two new not-Nexus-but-Pixel-branded smartphones, Google Home, Daydream VR and a 4K Chromecast. We’ll have full details in the next issue.
