WHEN TO GO
We visited in February, when the area was quiet, although many of the attractions were closed for the winter. If you plan to visit houses, castles and gardens, summer is best. The scenery is always stunning, though.
WAY TO GO
The site was a two-hour drive from our home in Buckinghamshire, taking the M40 and M42, then the M5 to J7 and the Worcester South exit. From there, we followed signs to the Three Counties Showground on the A4440, then brown site signs on the B4424 towards Hanley Swan, turning left into the site just before reaching the village. Some of the side roads are narrow and winding, but all the approaches to the site are easily navigable.
