In a recent British study, cyclists felt more alert and rode significantly faster when they were exposed to artificial light for 30 minutes prior to waking. Sugar is fast overtaking fat as a threat to your heart, according to new research in JAMA Internal Medicine In the study, people who got 10 to 24 percent of their calories from added sugar were 30 percent more likely to die from cardiovascular disease than those who consumed less. Nearly 3 in 4 Americans take in that much daily, and 10 percent get 25 percent or more, which raises risk threefold. In the study, healthy people who ate about 3 cups of strawberries daily experienced a 14 percent decrease in LDL, or “bad,” cholesterol—and a 9 percent drop in their total cholesterol—after a month.
